Manhattan Experimental Theater Workshop (MXTW)

A 5-week workshop for high school students. MXTW has been around for over 30 years! Part classroom and part production company, participants study various styles of avant-garde theater, then write and perform original pieces.

In the summer 2018, Manhattan Arts Center sent a group of MXTW participants to Oslo, Norway to collaborate with students in Scenlusa Produksjoner’s NExT Workshop.

NExT


Gwethalyn and Megan collaborated with Scenelusa Produksjoner of Oslo, Norway to help create the Norwegian Experimental Theater Workshop (NExT) which offers an experience similar to MXTW to Norwegian high school age students.

Body House

An immersive play written by Megan Clark, directed by Gwethalyn Williams and produced by Experimental Theater Lab Body House offers four scenes, some deeply intimate, others poetic and abstract, about four characters living together and their attempts to form connections with one another.

A Sharper Knife

EMUXT was a Hamilton Method workshop produced in early 2012 by E.M.U. Theatre, a grassroots theater company in Lawrence, KS. The workshop featured 12 adult participants ranging in age from their early 20s to early 40s.

MXTW at Minneapolis Fringe Festival

In August 2010, MXTW took 10 participants to perform their pieces at the Minneapolis Fringe Festival.
