refracted habits: theater & svart hav/hvitt skum a special encore performance
In the summer 2017 Scenlusa Produksjoner sent a group of their participants from the Norwegian Experimental Theater workshop (NExT) to Manhattan, Kansas to collaborate with students in The Manhattan Arts Center’s Experimental Theater Workshop for High School Students (MXTW).
The NExT students got to experience U.S. and Kansas culture first hand by staying with the families of MXTW students and visiting many cultural sites in and around Manhattan, Kansas when they were not in rehearsals. The two groups used their shared creation methods to collaborate on a new piece of theatre in which performers from both countries performed in both English and Norwegian. Their special encore performances of refracted habits: theater and svart hav/hvitt skum included this collaborative piece in addition to pieces performed by MXTW in English and pieces performed by NExT in Norwegian.This was the first half of a true exchange program. In the summer of 2018 students from MXTW were able to travel to Norway to work with NExT.
